Lara von Waldenburg is a first generation Canadian of French-German ancestry. Lara’s life experience brought her to the United States where she attended Parsons School of Design in New York City. She received her BFA in Illustration in 1990. Lara paints primarily using a combination of acrylics and mixed media collage. Her work is illustrative in nature and characterized by an accent reminiscent of her European descent. She works with bold color, dynamism and spontaneity. Lara has resided in various landscapes; from the rugged shores of Newfoundland, to the Eastern States, the vast and wild South West and the Pacific North. She has a strong connection to her family and extended relatives in France and has spent a significant portion of time there. Since returning to Canada in 1993, Lara’s work has been exhibited both locally and internationally. Various venues include; Infusion Gallery - Los Angeles, California, Hun Gallery - N.Y, New York, Agora Gallery - N.Y, New York, National Museum of China - Beijing, Harrison Arts Festival - Harrison, B.C., Blackberry Gallery - Port Moody, B.C., Empire Forum of Art and Design -Vancouver, B.C, Maison V Gallery - Vancouver, B.C. Lara has participated in several studio and community exhibits. Some include; Women’s work 2005, Hands Across the Pacific 2004, Artists in our Midst 2003, Artropolis 97 1997, Arthause 1993 and more. Lara’s work has been represented by Agora Gallery, NY, N.Y in 2005-2006. Also featured in the 2005/2006 New Art International art book. Select works have traveled and or sold in China, U.S.A, and France. Illustrations have appeared on the cover of the Playbill for Transit Mass (Manhattan), in Z-Magazine (Boston) and on two covers of City Food Magazine (Vancouver). Lara currently resides in Chilliwack, British Columbia pursuing her career as a Fine artist and illustrator, and with her husband is continuing to raise her two children.
