Marisa Mary Myrah was born in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1966 and studied Fine Arts at Emily Carr College of Art and Design in Vancouver, graduating in 1990. She completed a Post-Baccalaureate in Painting at the Cyprus College of Art in Paphos, Cyprus in 1994. She has had a number of solo and group exhibitions in Canada and abroad and was an Artist-in-Residence at the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming, USA in 2000 and at the Fundación Valparaíso in Mojácar, Spain in 2002 . Her work can be found in private and public collections in North America and Europe.

Marisa is on a perpetual exploration of still life paintings - including that of Memento Mori and Vanitas Painting, Orientalism, 19th Century Luminist landscape paintings, botanical engravers, and Chinese and Japanese scroll paintings - which provide historical examples for her work. As well, the observation of garden design and "women's craft" of needlepoint and embroidery are visual sources that she acknowledges among her influences.

She lives and works in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
